Ellin speaks on Infill as Sustainable Strategy at Arizona Historic Preservation Conference

June 22, 2009

Together with Attorney General Terry Goddard and Kimber Lanning, Executive Director of Local First Arizona, Associate Professor Nan Ellin led a session at the 2009 Arizona Historic Preservation Conference, held in Phoenix June 18-20, 2009.

The discussion focused on re-purposing old buildings and other methods Phoenix can use to encourage infill in order to become a more sustainable city. In addition, Ellin discussed Canalscape, a strategy for creating mixed-use urban infill where Phoenix's canals meet major streets, and enhancing the canal banks to encourage alternative non-motorized transportation.
