GTU Outing: Wilson Mountain Hike
Just outside Sedona
The final GTU field trip of 2008 will be a hike up Wilson Mountain in Sedona. It is the highest point in the Sedona area, on the rim of Oak Creek Canyon, with a great view. The trail starts at the bottom of Oak Creek Canyon and switches back until reaching the top.
This hike is listed as the 4th deepest canyon hike in Arizona on Arizona's 20-20 Challenge (www.az2020.org). The top 3 deepest canyons, ranked by vertical height from floor to rim, are all in the Grand Canyon or side canyons of the Grand Canyon.
