Step 2

Get the Required Documents:

  1. Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work
  2. A statement of your goals (see Step 4)
  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation

The statement is a formal, brief, written essay regarding relevant academic experience, professional experience, and overall goals in geographic education. The letters can come from any combination of current/former instructors, supervisors, or colleagues currently working your school or district setting.

Step 3

Review:

Double-check the Graduate College checklist for “domestic applicants”.

Step 4

Complete the Statement of Goals Questionnaire:

  1. First, download the QUESTIONNAIRE
  2. Answer the questions
  3. Save the questionnaire as a .doc (Microsoft Word) or .rtf (Rich Text Format) file
  4. Please e-mail back your statement of goals questionnaire to ronald.dorn@asu.edu. That way, we can get to work right away on your file.

Step 5

Submit Documents:

    • In this application, you will be asked to select a degree program. The easiest thing to do is search under “Education.” Then, find “Geography.” The MASGE is the only geography education degree at ASU.
    • If you want a “sneak peak” at the sorts of questions that will come up in filling out your graduate application, you can click here.
  • Submit the fee
  • Send your official transcripts to the Graduate College
  • Send the Graduate College your three letters of recommendation

You do NOT need to send in test scores. After all of the materials are complete, the Graduate College will send your file to Ron and Gale. Then, you'll hear back from us as quickly as possible.
