Geographic Information Science at ASU: Research and Multidisciplinary Connections

Research

Research projects involving GIS are associated with a variety of schools and academic centers on campus. Research projects vary from using GIS in the context of conservation biology, urban planning, neighborhood studies, active tectonics, and landscape modeling. There is also a GIS research program in the School of Geographical Sciences building tools to extend the analytical capabilities of GIS. Links to the various schools and centers demonstrate these projects.

Academic Units

Multidisciplinary Connections

Multidisciplinary connections between researchers in these units are strengthened through colloquium series and discussion groups. A few examples include the GeoDa Center Brown Bag Series, The School of Life Sciences Seminars, and events of the Decision Center for a Desert City.

A GIS listserv, open to ASU faculty, staff, and students, is a powerful tool for disseminating information about activities and opportunities.
