Biography

John Shaeffer currently teaches the introductory World Geography course and numerous specialized regional geography courses including the Geography of U.S. and Canada, the Geography of Europe, the Geography of Australia and Oceania, and the Geography of Russia and Surroundings.  The majority of these courses are taught in both the in-person and online formats.  Other regional offerings he has taught in the past include the Geography of Arizona and Southwestern United States, and a special topics course on the Geography of India and South Asia, as well as one systematic course on the Geography of Natural Resources.  In the future, he will teach even more specialized regional geography courses.

Research Interests

Cultural and historical geography of North America, Europe, Northern Eurasia, and Australia and Oceania. Literature/landscape connections, geographic education, and online education.
