Robert Pahle's key focus areas are decision support systems, integration and workflow processes, visualization, database management, high-performance computing, and user interaction.

One of Pahle's significant milestones in technology development has been the creation of an innovative framework (complex systems framework) which is capable of integrating disparate models, simulations and visualizations. Pahle also works extensively with GIS databases and the parallelization of GIS analytics and queries.
